In Memory of Keith McDermott
With profound sadness, we at Community Impact share the news of the passing of our longtime board member Keith McDermott.
Keith has been one of Community Impact's fiercest leaders and supporters for over twenty years. He served in many roles at our organization, including Board Chair, Co-Chair of the Program Committee, and member of several other committees including Finance and Resource Development.
The CI Board Co-Chairs, Maria Davila-Peguero and Rose Kob, made the following statement on behalf of the Board:
The CI Board mourns the passing and honors the memory of our friend and colleague Keith McDermott. Keith loved CI and was a champion of our students, our participants, and our staff. He had a passionate focus on the health and strength of CI and the organization benefitted immeasurably from his sharp mind and business and financial acumen. Keith was especially interested in mentoring young people and always took time to speak to Columbia students to encourage their community service.
Keith graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1981 with a B.S. in Accounting before launching a successful career at corporations such as Price Waterhouse, JP Morgan, and Credit Suisse. During his 30 plus years in the financial services industry as a CPA, Keith built teams from the ground up at several prestigious firms, most recently as Chief Financial Officer at MUFJ Securities Americas Inc.
Keith Francis McDermott was a lifelong resident of Huntington, NY and a 1977 graduate of Huntington High School, where he met his best friend and lifemate Marianna. Keith is survived by his wife Marianna, daughter Laura, and son Greg. Keith was passionate and enthusiastic in all phases of life, making lifelong friends at each stop along the way.
