Giving Tuesday
GivingTuesday, is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. This GivingTuesday, help us meet the growing needs of our neighboring communities in Upper Manhattan.
This past year, Community Impact operated 23 programs with the help of over 900 volunteers.
Our goal is to design innovative programs that harness student talent and enthusiasm for changemaking, influencing their lifelong view of the importance of service in our society. Can you help us by making a contribution to our student development programs?
- $5,000 supports one student to undertake a summer public service internship in NYC as part of the GVA Fellowship
- $2,500 supports CI to incubate a new student-run social justice program
- $1,250 funds one workshop or speaker as part of our new Impact(ED) capacity-building program
- $750 supports the purchase toiletries and food supplies for the Housing Equity Project program
The community continues to benefit from all our programs:
- Our Adult Education programs provided 1,150 participants with ESOL and GED training, as well as college and job assistance. There is a waiting list for our ESOL classes. $50 can cover the cost of textbooks for one participant.
- Our Youth Achievement programs delivered education and mentoring services to 1,000 local youth. At one of our local partner schools, 95% of the student body now relies on CI for arts education. $250 can purchase art supplies for a full class.
- Our Emergency Food & Health programs served 12,000 hot meals through the Soup Kitchen, provided nearly 18,000 people with grocery and produce bags through the Food Pantry, and more than 1,200 local unhoused individuals received weekly personal hygiene products, socks, and lite food packages as our number of clients doubled. $100 can provide 5 food packs.
